  • A 34-year-old Middletown man who was struck by a car while trying to cross U.S. Route 13 late Sunday night has died from his injuries, according to Delaware State Police.
Jeremy Reed was trying to cross the southbound lanes of U.S. Route 13 after 11:30 p.m. when he stepped out in front of a 2014 Honda Civic near Anchor Inn Road, according to Delaware State Police spokesman Cpl. John Day.
Reed died Monday afternoon after being admitted to Christina Hospital in critical condition soon after the crash, Day said.
The driver, 24-year-old Allen Turpin of Dover, also reportedly suffered minor injuries in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation, but Day said today that criminal charges are not expected.
The southbound lanes of the highway were closed for about two hours while state troopers investigated the crash and cleared the scene.
