A 44-year-old Middletown man is facing his fourth DUI charge after being stopped for speeding Friday night.

John A. Harvey’s vehicle was stopped by a Middletown police officer in the traffic circle at the intersection of Levels Road and St. Anne’s Church Road just before 9:30 p.m., according to Middletown Police Department spokesman Lt. Michael Kelly.

Harvey was taken into custody after failing a field sobriety test, he said.

Harvey’s passengers, including his wife and adult child, were released at the scene.

A subsequent criminal history check revealed that Harvey previously has been convicted on three separate DUI charges, Kelly said.

Harvey is charged with fourth offense DUI, as well as driving on a suspended license. He also was cited for speeding.

Harvey later was released after posting a $2,500 secured bond, Kelly said.
