  • The Delaware State Police bomb squad was called to investigate a suspicious device this morning near Townsend.
State Police Cpl. John Day said police responded to the Delaware Solid Waste Authority station on Pine Tree Road at about 8 a.m., after a Solid Waste Authority employee found a suspicious-looking object.
The State Police ordnance disposal team, or bomb squad, investigated the object and determined it wasn’t hazardous. The device apparently is an old piece of electronic equipment, Day said.
Pine Tree Road was closed between Summit Bridge Road (Route 71) and Harris Road during the investigation, but was re-opened at about 9:30 a.m.
