  • Fire destroys home in Middletown

  • The blaze, reported shortly after 1 a.m. this morning, occurred in the 400 block of Weston Drive, Millbranch, according to Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael G. Chionchio.

  • No one was hurt but a house was severely damaged in a fire early this morning in Middletown.
    The blaze, reported shortly after 1 a.m., occurred in the 400 block of Weston Drive, Millbranch, according to Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael G. Chionchio.
    When the Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown arrived on the scene, flames were shooting from the dwelling. Several area fire companies also assisted at the blaze.
    The home was occupied when the fire was discovered. The occupants were able to escape without injury, Chionchio said.
    Smoke alarms operated inside the home.
    Heavy fire damage is estimated at $300,000, Chionchio said.
    State fire investigators are examining the scene to determine the fire’s origin and cause.
