  • The Middletown-Odessa-Townsend (M.O.T.) 11-12-year-old all-star baseball team defeated Camden-Wyoming 7-0 Monday night forcing one more game Tuesday evening to decide the District One Majors Division championship.
Camden-Wyoming, which defeated M.O.T. 7-3 last Wednesday, would have clinched the title with a victory.
M.O.T. banged in three runs in the bottom of the first inning, and continued to hit the ball well all night.
The team added three more runs in its half of the third inning, then added an insurance run in the fourth on a solo home run.
M.O.T head Coach Ken Anderson said his team is taking this tournament one game at a time. “That’s four games in a row, and we told them we are going to take this one pitch at a time and one inning at a time. A lot of our kids have played together since they were ten years old and they know each other well, and they’ve really worked hard,” he said.
“Our defense made some nice plays early in the game and our pitching did very well tonight,” added Anderson.
M.O.T. advanced to the championship round with a 13-3 victory over Dover on Sunday, while Camden-Wyoming earned their spot with a 17-7 pounding of Dover on Saturday.
The winner of Tuesday night’s game will play Newark National on Thursday evening. Newark National has already clinched the District Two championship.
