The MOT 9-10 year-old all-stars defeated Milford to win the District One championship Tuesday night.

The Middletown-Odessa-Townsend (MOT) all-stars are experiencing success in the post season District One tournaments. The latest MOT team to advance to the 2014 Delaware State Tournament is the 9-10 year-old baseball team.

The boys’ squad defeated Milford Tuesday night 15-5 to claim the District One championship. MOT manager Casey Bouldin said the team went 3-0 during the district tournament and played very well in defeating Felton-Harrington 11-0 in the first game, and then they beat Milford 5-1 in the winners’ bracket.

“Our hitting and defense was exceptional during the playoffs. This was a total team effort, with everyone contributing,” said Bouldin, “and our pitching did well throughout the exciting tournament.”

The 9-10 year-old Delaware State Tournament begins Thursday in Dover. Milton will play against Canal.

MOT will play the winner of Game One on Friday night at 7 p.m.

The winner of the local state tournament will participate in the regional tournament in Cranston, Rhode Island next week.
