The investigation is still ongoing says the police department.

A 30-year-old male was arrested the weekend of August 1 in connection with a rash of thefts from cars that occurred in July, according to Middletown Police Department Lieutenant Michael Kelly.

The department had issued a press release July 30 stating that a total of 13 thefts from cars were reported to police during that month.

“I can’t say that it’s higher than last July,” said Kelly. “We just want people to take care of themselves and to lock up their valuables.”

At the August 4 Middletown mayor and council meeting, members were informed by the officer issuing the report that the majority of the thefts occurred in neighborhoods east of Middletown.

The investigation is still ongoing, according to Kelly.

Detectives working in the case said that the majority of the thefts occurred when valuables were left in plain sight and cars were unsecured.
