  • Mexico was eliminated from the World Cup Sunday in a heartbreaker, after the Netherlands scored twice in the final minutes on its way to a 2-1 victory. Greece was also eliminated by Costa Rica, who won on penalty kicks.
    In the first game, Mexico's Giovani Dos Santos scored the team's first and only goal in the 48th minute. Mexico held on to the lead until the 88th minute, when Wesley Sneijder scored for the Dutch to tie the game.

    The Netherlands won after Klaas Jan Huntelaar scored on a penalty shot after a foul by Mexico. It was the team's fourth straight win in this year's World Cup.
    With the Greece-Costa Rica match tied at 1-1 at the end of regular play, Costa Rica earned victory by converting all five of its penalty kicks, while Greece only scored three.
    The Netherlands and Costa Rica will face each other next Saturday.
    The Round of 16 continues Monday, with France vs. Nigeria (noon/11c, ESPN) and Germany vs. Algeria (4/3c, ESPN).
