New Castle County and the union representing 130 crossing guards have reached a contract agreement, County Executive Paul Clark said Wednesday.

The agreement, which is the county’s first signed contract with the crossing guards since March 2008, covers fiscal years 2012 and 2013.

Wages will stay the same under the new agreement and the county did not seek any wage concessions from these part-time employees, said county spokesman Jim Grant. It does include minor changes in leave provisions and other non-monetary items.
