The John Collette Educational Resource Center, located in the Enterprise Industrial Park in West Dover, was evacuated late this afternoon due to concerns of accumulated snow on the roof of the facility.
The building, which is leased by the Department of Education, has more than 60 full-time employees. Those employees will work tomorrow from various alternate locations.
The decision to evacuate the building was made in consultation with DOE and the building owner as a precaution for the safety of the occupants. The building has not sustained any damage and will be reassessed tomorrow to determine whether it can be safely occupied on Wednesday.
The state's second major snowstorm in less than a week led some roofs to collapse in various places, including Townsend Fire Co., the Big Lots store in Milford and West Seaford Elementary School.
