Tennis' Grand Slam tour continues in May with the French Open, the stickiest and stainiest of all the major pro tennis tournaments. The only one of the majors to use clay courts, the French Open requires different skills, the likes of which apparently Rafael Nadal has plenty of; he's won the tournament 10 times since 2005.

The first round of the French Open starts Sunday, May 27 and continues for two weeks through Sunday, June 10 with the men's final. The women's final will air the day before. NBC will do its usual coverage at specific times and show the premiere matches, while Tennis Channel will handle the broadcasting duties when NBC is airing something else. If you've dumped cable in favor of online streaming, the tournament can be watched on NBCSports.com, the NBC Sports app or fuboTV, a sports-centric cable alternative that carries live broadcasts of NBC.

Nadal will defend his title and make a go at reclaiming the No. 1 ranking in the world, and his biggest obstacle will be out of the way. Roger Federer has withdrawn from the tournament because he's not playing on clay surfaces. On the women's side, Serena Williams returns to Grand Slam action for the first time since giving birth to her daughter in September. But she will have a rough road toward getting her fourth French Open title as her absence in the sport has left tournament officials to not give her a seed, meaning she could face tougher competition in early rounds.
