The Historic Odessa Foundation (HOF) is excited to present a free lecture on “Georgian Proportion: An Architect’s Dream,” by Gerard Cataldo Tuesday, April 27, at 77 p.m. at the HOD office, 201 Main St., Odessa.
Cataldo is a rare book dealer and founding partner and manager of the Chestertown Old Book Co. in Chestertown, Md. His career spans for 30 years.
A life-long book collector, Cataldo has published several rare book catalogues, lectured on rare books and book collecting, and displayed books at various antiquarian book fairs on the East Coast.
The lecture corresponds with a case exhibit currently on view at the Historic Houses of Odessa that showcases the rare book that inspired the English architect Robert May’s design of one of America’s treasure houses – Odessa’s Corbit Sharp House. May’s large book, “The Architecture of Leon Battista Alberti,” circa 1755 is on display at the Historic Odessa Foundation’s Bank Building for the first time through Sunday, May 9.
