During these tough economic times, millions of Americans have been forced to rethink their wealth and their health, including practices or habits that may not gel with the 21st century new reality. With rising medical costs, an uncertain future for the Nation’s health care system and increasing environmental challenges, many are searching for practical solutions to ride this wave of change, by preventing illness rather than reacting to it and creating economic strategies to nurture the earth on which our medicine grows.
The 17th Annual Holistic Health Fair on Saturday, April 24, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes will offer a free speaker program to address just such health, environmental and economic concerns. Throughout the day, leading experts in their fields will discuss how a shift to sustainable preventative medicine, environmental practices and economic restructuring can help any individual build a self-sustaining future filled with health and prosperity.
At 11 a.m., D.C. Kuhns, executive director of The Wellnet, will introduce “EDEN: Energize Delaware Now – Exploring The Use And Recovery Of Renewable Resources In Delaware.”
Kuhns’ presentation will address the business opportunities that await Delawareans in renewable resources, the policy changes that need to be made to revitalize the economy and the business models that will succeed as the economy recovers.
Also a trailblazer of “firsts,” this year’s Holistic Health Fair Keynote Speaker, Author and Herbalist, Dr. Alan Tillotson, AHG, Ph.D., will reprise his highly popular forum, “Stump the Herbalist,” at 1 p.m. by taking audience questions on any aspect of any disease, and immediately responding with science and tradition based ways to solve the problem.
At 3 p.m. Dr. Dave Allderdice, ND, from Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Eastern Regional Medical Center, will present “Synergy Between Natural Healing And Modern Medicine.”
The fair will also offer more than a dozen 30-minute workshops and demonstrations in break-out rooms through out the day.
This year the Kid’s Corner welcomes the Pirates of Lewes and a magician, while natural crafts, face painting, health and nutrition activities, Yoga, and artwork offer green and earth-friendly fun.
Attendees are encouraged to crack open their piggy banks for the “Change for Change” wishing well to raise funds for the Wellnet’s community programs and also to donate healthy non-perishable food items to distribute to community food charities in the Cape region.
The Cape Henlopen High School is located at 1250 Kings Highway in Lewes. Admission and parking are free. For more information, vendor registration or to volunteer, go to www.thewellnet.org or call Sherry at 302-945-2107.
