A 33-year-old healthcare worker was charged with theft July 12 after Middletown Police and the Delaware Division of Health and Social Services Long Term Care Division investigated reports of jewelry and money allegedly stolen from a senior citizen under her care.
According to the MPD, the joint investigation revealed that Christine Battista, 33, of the 1300 block of Arrow Way in Bear, twice stole jewelry and cash from an 88-year-old female while working in her home April 21 as a healthcare provider. Investigation began May 4 when the family of the elderly patient said they suspected that the healthcare worker had stolen money.
The property loss was $671.77. Police said $400 of the property was recovered.
Battista arrested and charged with two counts of theft under $1,500 at the Middletown Police Department and released on $1,000 unsecured bond.
