Saturday, June 6
    • An Evening Garden Tour will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Priapi Gardens, 5996 Augustine Herman Highway, Cecilton, Md.
    Stroll through Priapi’s gardens and grounds and enjoy Maryland wines, fine, light food and relaxing music. Coverage of the Belmont Stakes starts at 5:30 p.m. on wide screen TVs under the big tent.
    Tickets are $30 per person in advance and $35 at the gate. For tickets, call (410) 275-9438 or email vic@pri apigardens.com.
    • Newark Nite will be held from 5 to 9:30 p.m. on Main Street in Newark.
    The City of Newark Parks and Recreation Department and the Downtown Newark Partnership will host entertainment, community information, food, craft vendors and a children’s area, complete with a children’s stage, games and a make and take craft. There also will be stages around the area hosting a variety of performers.
    Newark Nite organizers ask that pets be left at home for their safety and the safety of those attending the event.

    The rain date for this event is Sunday, June 7, from 2:30 to 7 p.m.
    • The Middletown Farmers Market will be open from 8 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of Forest Presbyterian Church in Middletown.
    The market offers home-grown produce, bakery items, plants, cheese, artisan breads, organic vegetables, bedding plants, hanging baskets and herb transplants.
    • First State Ballet Theatre will hold a studio open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    Tour studios, observe classes and meet instructors. The studio is located at the Grand Opera House, floor 3R, 818 N. Market St., Wilmington.

    • A live auction and strawberry festival will be held at Zion Methodist Church in Cecilton, Md., at 9:30 a.m. The auction includes items and gift certificates from local businesses. Strawberries, ice cream and lunch will be sold.
    • The Dover English Country Dancers and the Historic Odessa Foundation will host a Colonial Dance at 7 p.m. behind the Wilson-Warner House, 202 Main St., Odessa.
    Couples and singles are welcome. No experience necessary. All dances are taught before they are danced. Casual clothes and comfortable shoes are suggested.  
    The dance is great fun and good exercise, too. Please bring a dish to share for admission.

    • The Road Aces Car Club will host its monthly Cruise Night from 5 to 9 p.m. at SportZone Restaurant and Sport Club located at 235 Stadium St. in the Gateway North Shopping Center in Smyrna. 
    A trophy will be awarded to the SportZone’s Pick of the Night.  
    Cruise night participants will receive an entry each time they attend one of the 2009 Cruise Nights throughout the year for an opportunity to win a $500 gift certificate to be awarded at the October Cruise Night.  Owners must be present with their vehicle at the Cruise Night in order to receive an entry form.  
    Cruise Nights will be held the first Saturday of the month from May through October at SportZone.  50/50 tickets will be on sale. Music will be provided by Express Entertainment’s Tom Sullivan.

Sunday, June 7
    • Mount Harmon Plantation will host a Colonial Plantation Picnic from noon to 4 p.m.
    This is one of the best times to visit Mount Harmon and experience its colonial heritage. This year’s picnic features a gourmet Eastern Shore picnic buffet with mini crab cakes, country ham, fried chicken and summer salads. There will be a silent auction full of great gifts, antiques and specialty items donated from area businesses to raise funds for Mount Harmon programs and projects.
    Events include plantation wagon rides, which are a great way to get out and see Mount Harmon’s scenic beauty, and colonial demonstrations and performances, which will bring Mount Harmon’s colonial history to life.
    Tickets are $35 for adults and $10 for children. The ticket price includes admission to the museum, a gourmet Eastern Shore buffet, and colonial performances and demonstrations.

    • The Middletown Area Chamber of Commerce will host a free after-hours networking mixer from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at PNC Bank in Dove Run Shopping Center, Middletown.
    Complimentary hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be provided and there will be a business card drawing for door prizes.

    • The 22nd annual Elkton Rotary Charity Golf Classic will tee off at 1 p.m. at the Club at Patriots Glen in Elkton, Md. Registration and lunch is at noon.

    • “An Evening of Celebration” to honor three of Delaware’s most outstanding women will be from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Patio at Archmere Academy in Claymont.
    Girls Incorporated of Delaware will present the 2009 Strong, Smart and Bold. The event will be hosted by CBS3 News Anchor Pat Ciarrocchi and will feature jazz, champagne, wine, beer and sumptuous hors d’ oeuvres.

    • C-Line Stables in Middletown will host a CBHSA-rated Horse Show Hunter/Jumper at Fox Den Farm, Dover.

    • The City of New Castle will host Seperation Day festivities starting with a parade at 11 a.m. starting on Delaware Street and ending at the Court House Plaza.
    The parade will feature the 287th Army National Guard Band, Citizens Hose Company Band, Delaware Military Academy Marching Seahawks and the Avalon String Band.
    A magic show will be at 3 p.m. and the Beautiful Baby contest will be at 4 p.m.
    The day will feature Steve Ketterer at 1:30 p.m., American Pie Entertainment at 6:30 p.m. with an evening of dancing with New Castle’s own Paul Freebery.
    The event will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with arts and crafts, amusement rides, games, food, encampments, clowns, a colonial bubble machine, dunk tank, face painting, pony rides and non-profit vendors.
    The evening will end with fireworks at 9:30 p.m.
    Free parking and shuttle bus service will be available from First Baptist Crhuch, New Castle Middle School and Carrie Downie Elementary School.

Sunday, June 14
    •  The Clayton Fire Company will host a Vendor Sale from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with cash and carry items and raffles. Vendors include Amway, Arbonne, AVON, Dove chocolate, Home Interior, Lia Sophia, Longaberger, Madison Handbags, Mary Kay, Mia Bella, Pampered Chef, Party Lite, Silpada Designs, Stanley, Tastefully Simple, Tupperware, Wildtree and homemade jewelry by Jenn Ehlen.
    Longaberger basket and Vera Bradley Bingo starts at 3 p.m. in the hall. Tickets for the bingo are $25 at the door. Pre-registered players are eligible for early bird drawing 50/50 and special raffles will be available. Snacks and refreshments will be available.

    • AIDS Delaware will host Dining Out for Life at the Beach where 29 participating Sussex County restaurants will donate 33 percent of their total food sales to AIDS Delaware.
    The funds raised through the event support AIDS Delaware’s statewide services for people living with HIV/AIDS and prevention education and at-risk youth programs.
