Friday, July 17
    • The M.O.T. Jean Birch Senior Center in Middletown will host a free Summer Sizzlin’ Gazebo Concert from 6:30 to 8 p.m. featuring Swing City Band with swing and jazz.
    Hot dogs, sodas and chips will be available for purchase along with homemade ice cream and baked goods. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, kick back and relax!
    • “An Evening of the Arts” will continue its monthly summer series from 6 to 9 p.m., on Main Street in downtown Middletown. The event is free and will take place rain or shine.
    The series will have a stage located in the Forest Presbyterian Church parking lot, where several artists will perform.
    It will also include antique cars from the Brandywine Antique Auto Club, retail and specialty shops featuring work by local and regional visual artists, wine and beer samples, tea tastings, culinary treats and more.
    The Gilbert W. Perry Jr. Center for the Arts will host its opening reception for the exhibit, “Local Artists, Students to Professionals,” at the Hudson Contemporary Gallery.
    Visitors are welcome to park on Green Street by Middletown Town Hall and at the Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown.

Saturday, July 18
    • Delaware City Day Event starting with the parade at 11 a.m. will travel down Clinton Street to Veteran’s Point.
    The day will have family-oriented fun, food and fireworks.
    This year’s event is being dedicated to the Delaware City Fire Department for their steadfast efforts to provide quality fire and emergency services to Delaware City the and surrounding communities.
    The annual community service award will be presented to EMT Michelle Smith, who died in the line of duty while responding to an accident on U.S. 13.
    The fireworks begin at dusk.
    • The Middletown Farmers Market will be open from 8 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of Forest Presbyterian Church in Middletown.
    The market offers home-grown produce, bakery items, plants, cheese, artisan breads, organic vegetables, bedding plants, hanging baskets, organic vegetables and herb transplants.
    • The annual Wings-N-Wheels car show, sponsored by the Del Rod Car Club, will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Air Mobility Command Museum.
    Registration for the show is open until noon, and is open to all vehicles. 
    There will be dash plaques, 40 trophies, door prizes, a DJ, a 50/50 drawing,  food and specialty vendors, and fun for all. Half of the show profits will be donated to the Air Mobility Command Museum. 
    Entrance for spectators is free and the museum, which features more than 20 restored aircrafts, will be open. Many of the planes will be open for tours.

    • The Blackbird Community Center will host a Yard and Bake Sale, from 8 a.m. to noon, at 120 Blackbird Forest Rd, Blackbird.

Sunday, July 19

    • Middletown Camp Cultural Festival will be held Sunday, July 19, from noon to 8 p.m. at East Lake Street and Louis L. Redding Middle School.
    Special entertainment will include jazz, blues, gospel groups, mime praise dancers, poetry recitals and rap music. There will be motorcycles on display and a horseshoe challenge pit.
    Parking fees for RVs are $3, cars are $2 and motorcycles are $1.
    Vendors will provide food, clothing, arts and crafts. Registration is $50 and to register by July 15, call (302) 465-2667.
    • A Sports Card, Comic Book and Collectible Show will be held at the Aetna Fire Hall, 400 Ogletown Road, across from the Newark Post Office, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
    There will be more than 50 tables of the area’s finest dealers. 
    Admission is $2. Children 12 and younger get in for free.

    • Milburn Orchards in Elkton, Md., will celebrate National Ice Cream Day with “Sundae Sunday” from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    All toppings will be free for sundaes. Kids can enjoy free face painting and explore the BarnYard Buddies and the FarmYard Playground.

Saturday, July 25
    • Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra will make their way to The Everett Theatre in Middletown at 7 p.m. for a concert to benefit the theatre.
    Spirit Productions will present “An Evening at the Everett” with Elvis impersonator Jim Baraone and Frank Sinatra impersonator Maurice “Mo” Michaux.
    Advance tickets are $20 and can be purchased by calling (302) 588-3335. Tickets at the door are $40.
    • The Pennsylvania Guild Fine Craft Fair will be held at the Chase Center on the Riverfront from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. featuring contemporary and traditional crafts.  
    Explore thousands of one-of-a-kind, individually handmade works by more than 170 craftspeople in glass, jewelry, pottery, wood, metal, fabrics, furniture and more. 
    Admission is $7 per person, and a $1 off coupon is available at www.pacrafts.org, and free for children under 12.
    The fair will also he held  Sunday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    • The Middletown Tennis Association will host an Open House from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Appoquinimink High School tennis courts.
    Current and prospective members are welcome to come and try out six of the newest courts in the area. Two of the courts will be available for instruction – youngsters on one, adults on the other, while the remaining four courts will be used for Round Robin play. Prizes and souvenirs will be awarded, free food and cold drinks will be available.

Sunday, July 26
    • The Wilmington Rowing Center will host the 18th Annual Howard M. Smith Diamond State Regatta on tranquil Noxontown Pond in Middletown at 8 a.m.
    This regatta brings more than 1,000 rowers from Maine to Florida to Middletown for the day, where a race will start every six minutes.
