Schedule of CompEd spring computer classes

    For the sixth consecutive year, CompEd is presenting a program of low-cost accelerated computer classes designed for those who cannot afford the cost or time requirements of traditional computer education. Classes are held in a computer studio with seven work stations located on U.S. 13 near Willey’s Market at 4062 Dupont Parkway and are limited to five students.     Unit 1. The Computer Mouse and Keyboard – is for the beginner. Learn how to write simple notes, fill out forms and play Solitaire. Two hours. Cost: $10. Monday, April 13, 10 a.m. to noon and Monday, April 13, from 7 to 9 p.m.
    Unit 2. The Internet – is the world at your fingertips. Learn how to surf the Internet, do searches, send email and much more. Course material included. 10 hours. Cost: $40. April 30, May 1, 4, 5, 7 from 10 a.m. to noon and also 7 to 9 p.m.
    Unit 3. Managing Computer Information – fills in voids for self-taught computer users. Learn to create files, organize with folders and save to drives. Book included. 10 hours. Cost: $50. May 21, 22, 25, 26, 28 from 10 a.m. to noon and also 7 to 9 p.m.
    Unit 3B. Applied File Management – all hands-on exercises, reinforcing the concepts learned in Unit 3. Create, save, edit, download, find, files etc. Course material included. 3-5 hours. Cost: $30. Saturday, June 6, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Optional Return 2 to 4 p.m.
    Unit 4. Word Processing – covers Notepad, WordPad, MS Works and MS Word. Aimed for the home user, it covers standard letter writing and the construction of announcements and newsletters. Course material included. 10 hours. Cost: $40. June 18, 19, 22, 23, 25 from 10 a.m. to noon and 7 to 9 p.m.
    Unit 5. Computer Graphics – deals with the nature of and production, editing, printing, storage, organization and display of digital pictures. Book included. 10 hours. Cost: $50. Saturday, June 13 and 20, from 10 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. 45 minute lunch.
    Unit 6. Computer Maintenance – shows you some basic computer maintenance that helps to correct problems that cause computers to slow down and/or malfunction. Course material included. 4 1/2 hours. Cost: $30. Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 1 hour lunch.
    There is a minimum of five students needed per class. Pre-registration and payment is required prior to class start date. The cost of course materials is included in the course fee. In the event the five student minimum is not met, the class will be subject to cancellation.
