• “An Evening of Celebration” to honor three of Delaware’s most outstanding women will be from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Patio at Archmere Academy in Claymont.
Girls Incorporated of Delaware will present the 2009 Strong, Smart and Bold. The event will be hosted by CBS3 News Anchor Pat Ciarrocchi and will feature jazz, champagne, wine, beer and sumptuous hors d’ oeuvres.

• “Kilroy was Here” will be presented by MOT Charter School at 8 p.m. at The Everett Theatre.

Saturday, June 13
• “Flush Away Cancer” will be held in front of the Dutch Country Farmers Market in Middletown from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to raise money and sell tickets for Project Reach Out and Help, a benefit for two local children battling childhood brain cancer.
Tiger Kicks Martial Arts will perform demonstrations and offer board-breaking to those in attendance.
Donations for Project Reach Out and Help will be accepted.
Tickets will be on sale for Project Reach Out and Help, which will be July 11, for $25 per person. Tickets include admission, food and entertainment.

• The City of New Castle will host Seperation Day festivities starting with a parade at 11 a.m. starting on Delaware Street and ending at the Court House Plaza.
The parade will feature the 287th Army National Guard Band, Citizens Hose Company Band, Delaware Military Academy Marching Seahawks and the Avalon String Band.
A magic show will be at 3 p.m. and the Beautiful Baby contest will be at 4 p.m.
The day will feature Steve Ketterer at 1:30 p.m., American Pie Entertainment at 6:30 p.m. with an evening of dancing with New Castle’s own Paul Freebery.
The event will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with arts and crafts, amusement rides, games, food, encampments, clowns, a colonial bubble machine, dunk tank, face painting, pony rides and non-profit vendors.
The evening will end with fireworks at 9:30 p.m.
Free parking and shuttle bus service will be available from First Baptist Church, New Castle Middle School and Carrie Downie Elementary School.
