Saturday, Aug. 1
    • Delaware City’s Music in the Park Series will feature the Newark Community Band, who will lead off the season with marches, show tunes and classical favorites.
    The concert starts at 6:30 p.m. in the downtown waterfront park. The concert is free.
• “The Witness” will be shown at the Chinese Martial Arts Center in Middletown at 6 p.m. The movie tells the story of Eddie Lama, a tough construction contractor from Brooklyn, whose chance encounter with a kitten completely transforms his life.

    • The Road Aces Car Club will host its monthly Cruise Night from 5 to 9 p.m. at SportZone Restaurant and Sport Club, located at 235 Stadium St. in the Gateway North Shopping Center in Smyrna.
    A trophy will be awarded to the SportZone’s “Pick of the Night.”
    Cruise night participants will receive an entry each time they attend one of the 2009 Cruise Nights throughout the year for an opportunity to win a $500 gift certificate to be awarded at the October Cruise Night. Winners must be present with their vehicle at the Cruise Night to receive an entry form.
    50/50 tickets will be on sale. Music will be provided.

    • The Middletown Farmers Market will be open from 8 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of Forest Presbyterian Church in Middletown.
    The market offers home-grown produce, bakery items, plants, cheese, artisan breads, organic vegetables, bedding plants, hanging baskets, organic vegetables and herb transplants.

    • Little Creek Volunteer Fire Company will hold an Inaugural Car Show and Swap with registration starting at 10 a.m.
    Trophies will be awarded to the top 20 vehicles and dash plaques will be given to all participants.
    All makes and models are welcome. The entry fee is $10. Food will be available from the Little Creek Ladies Auxiliary. All proceeds will benefit the fire company and auxiliary.

    • The Cooldog Concert Series near Kenton will feature Ellen Cherry with Nancy Miccuilla at 3 p.m.
    The suggested donation is $15 for adults and $10 for children ages 10 to 18 and military. Please bring a snack or dessert.
