No one hurt in blaze on Summit Bridge Road
The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office has determined that the house fire just after midnight today north of Middletown was accidental.
There were no injuries reported in the blaze in the 4600 block of Summit Bridge Road north of Armstrong Corner/Marl Pit Road, according to Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal Robert Fox.
The Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown responded to the report of a house on fire at 12:09 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they saw smoke and fire coming from the residence. Several other fire companies were called to assist.
Deputy fire marshals were called to the scene and have determined that the fire was caused by an electrical malfunction, Fox said.
Damage was estimated at $100,000, he said.
