The AARP Fraud Watch Network will bring fraud-fighting efforts to consumers nationwide in “Operation: Stop Scams,” a monthlong series of events.

In Delaware, AARP is collaborating with the YMCA of Delaware to host events in Newark and Rehoboth. The events will include free shredding services, information on fraud and scams, refreshments and prizes.

Free shredding events will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 22 at Sussex Family YMCA, 20080 Church St., Rehoboth Beach; and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 29 at Bear-Glasgow Family YMCA, 351 George Williams Way, Newark.

Money Smart Week, April 22-29, is a collaborative between organizations across the U.S. that offer financial education programs, classes and activities. AARP’s events in Delaware will offer an opportunity for free shredding to help protect consumers and their families from various types of fraud, such as identity theft, IRS scams, home improvement scams and more.
