Volunteers are needed for National Trails Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 3 at Cape Henlopen State Park, 15099 Cape Henlopen Drive, Lewes.
The day’s main emphasis is on maintenance — pruning overgrowth, clearing debris and picking up trash — on the various trails throughout the park. Volunteers will also do some invasive species removal, beach cleanup and landscaping.
Volunteers will meet at the picnic pavilion located adjacent to the main bathing beach parking lot at 9 a.m. and choose one of the projects to work on from 9 a.m. to noon. At noon, volunteers and participants all come back to the pavilion for a cookout given by the ladies of the Village Improvement Association.
The first 100 volunteers will receive a free National Trails Day T-shirt.
