Here are some fun First State events to check out this weekend.

1. Already tired of the heat? Then prepare to get chilled to the bone by songs from some of your favorite villainous characters found in movies and Broadway with “Cabaret.”

You'll surely have a frightfully good time at the show, held at the Everett Theatre, 47 W. Main St., in Middletown at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday. COST $10. INFO or 232-6338.

2. The Bindlestiff Family Cirkus will feature its hybrid of vaudeville, circus, burlesque and sideshow for free.

Cirkus co-founders Stephanie Monseu and Keith Nelson produced more than a dozen off-Broadway shows, custom performances for special audiences, family productions and sophisticated adult shows.

Since 1995, the Cirkus act has been touring the world.

The performers' personal dedication to their craft has made their show famous among audiences within the variety performance community.

Cirkus will dazzle at The Freeman Stage at Bayside, 31556 Winterberry Parkway, in Selbyville at 7 p.m., Saturday. COST Free. INFO or 436-3015.

3. Touring cover band The Benderz will share some Brotherly Love in the Capital City.

Entertaining thousands of fans all over the country, every show the Philadelphia-based band plays is upbeat. The Benderz are a well-oiled and committed machine. There's nothing Hollywood about the group off-stage. In fact, they treat listeners practically like family.

The Benderz will gig at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino, 1131 N. Dupont Highway, in Dover at 9:30 p.m., Friday. COST Free. INFO or 674-4600.
