Hunting, which is identified by the National Wildlife Refuge System Improvement Act of 1997 as one of the six wildlife-dependent recreational uses on refuges, is a form of recreation at Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge.
Application procedures for the preseason headquarters deer hunts at Prime Hook are new for the 2017-18 hunt season — applications will no longer be mailed, but can be filled out at the headquarters office of the refuge, 11978 Turkle Pond Road, Milton. Completed applications for the Nov. 4, 2017, and Jan. 27, 2018, early and late season deer hunts must be received in person at the refuge office no later than Sept. 15. Applications will not be accepted over the telephone or available on the refuge website.
