Some fun First State events to dive into this weekend.
1. The annual Ladybug Festival will feature nearly 100 female-fronted bands/artists gigging in Wilmington across 10 locations over two days, for free.
Some of the top names Nadjah Nicole (from “The Voice”), The Blind Spots, Hoochi Coochi, Larkin Poe, Sweet Leda, Angela Sheik and Nalani & Sarina.
The Ladybug Festival will be aflutter in downtown Wilmington, from 5 to 10:30 p.m., Thursday; and 5 to 10:30 p.m., Friday. COST Free. INFO theladybugfestival.com.
2. “Hollywood Nights — A Bob Seger Experience” is branded as the ultimate tribute to Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band.
This 10-piece New Jersey-based powerhouse is determined to leave no stone unturned when trying to re-create everything about Seger and his music, right down to the smallest detail. “Hollywood Nights” even tours with a baby grand piano.
Seger’s timeless hits will be revisited at The Freeman Stage at Bayside, 31750 Lake View Dr., in Selbyville at 7 p.m., Saturday. COST $20. INFO freemanstage.org or 436-3015.
3. Grammy-nominee bluesman Joe Louis Walker will headline the Roadhouse Bluesfest.
Walker is one of the greatest blues artists of his generation. He’s a four-time Blues Music Award winner and 2013 Blues Hall of Fame inductee who’s appeared on multiple Grammy-winning albums.
In addition to Walker, the Roadhouse Bluesfest features artists The Blues Reincarnation Project, Tom Craig & the Soul Patch Band, Roger Girke, Vanessa Collier and Alvin “Youngblood” Hart.
The festival, presented by Central Delaware Blues Society, will get underway at Jonathan’s Landing, 1309 Ponderosa Drive, in Magnolia from noon to 9 p.m., Saturday.
