The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) is advising motorists to anticipate significant delays due to a single lane closure along U.S. 301 at Strawberry Lane between 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13 through 6 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14.

U.S. 301 at Strawberry Lane will be closed periodically during this time frame for periods of up to one hour. The periodic closures are needed to allow cranes to install bridge beams for the new Strawberry Lane Bridge over 301.

These closures will occur at five separate times throughout the night. During this time, motorists are advised to avoid traveling through the area and to seek alternative routes to their destinations as traffic delays are expected to be major with delays up to and exceeding one hour.

Preparation for this event involves an extensive public outreach plan which includes emergency responders, local businesses, residents and the trucking industry.

The Delaware Transportation Management Center (TMC) will also be coordinating with all necessary state, county and local agencies to ensure that this detour plan is clearly communicated.
