Middletown police have charged a woman with allegedly pushing a baby in a crib to the ground and threatening an employee of La Costena Market while at the business at 14 East Main St., Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 20.

After speaking with the employee, police determined Dalma Melero, 54, of Middletown entered the store and demanded money that was allegedly owed to her by an employee who wasn’t present, police said.

Melero refused to leave and began to cause damage inside the store, police said.

She then allegedly pushed a baby in a crib to the ground at which time a physical fight ensued between Melero and the store employee.

During the fight, Malero attempted to grab a pair of scissors and threatened to kill the store employee, police said.

The store employee was able to leave the store with the baby and Melero allegedly removed money from the cash register and attempted to leave the store.

As Melero left the store, an employee held onto her until police arrived.

Melero was charged with robbery, second degree reckless endangering, terroristic threatening, offensive touching, and criminal mischief. She was released on $11,700 unsecured bail with a no contact order with the victims
