The Townsend Town Council will decide at the Wednesday, Oct. 4, meeting on the controversial ordinance which makes residents pay for the streetlights by attaching a fee onto the trash bills.

Town council met on Wednesday, Sept. 20, but the ordinance didn’t appear on the agenda and the council members didn’t discuss it.

After the meeting, Mayor Rudy Sutton Jr. said the proposal will be voted on during the Oct. 4 council meeting. It starts at 7:30 p.m. in Town Hall.

Council previously tabled the ordinance to get better numbers on how much the fee would be. Councilwoman Cindy Cook said the fee would be $13 a month per customer
