PAWS for People, a Newark-based pet therapy organization, will host its ninth annual Wag-n-Walk & 5K Run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m Oct. 21 at Delcastle Recreation Center, 710 McKennans Church Road, Wilmington.

Run or walk as an individual or a team in either the 5K run/walk or 1-mile Doggie Walk. “PAWS Pet Therapy Teams are Rock Stars” is the theme for this year’s event. Participants can come to the event dressed as a rockstar and be entered to win a prize.

A PAWS party will begin at 10 a.m. and will include activities for pets and children, live music,

food and craft and informational vendors. The PAWS party is free to participants and the general public. Free contests will give dogs a chance to show off their skills with prizes in categories including Shortest tail, fluffiest, best trick, best costume and more.

Registration for the 5K run/walk will open at 8 a.m., and the race will begin at 9 a.m. Registration for the Doggie Walk will begin at 10 a.m. and start at 11:30 a.m. Participants can register as individuals or teams.

Registration is $30 for adults for the 5K or Doggie Walk or $55 for both events; and $15 children 13 and younger for the 5K or Doggie Walk or $25 for both events. Awards will be given to the overall male/female runners, along with the top three runners in each age group. Awards also will be given to the top three male and female walkers.
