The Southern New Castle County Rotary Club bestowed on Southern Patrol Mst. Cpl. Wayne Blomquist, of the New Castle County Police Department, its Outstanding Police Officer Vocational Service Award at the club’s meeting on Oct. 31.

The Vocational Service Award was presented by Rotary president Scott Burkley to Blomquist, who was nominated by Captain of Patrol Joseph Bloch. The award recognizes the valuable contribution to a better society made by the men and women who protect the community through their work in police and fire service.

Blomquist has served as a New Castle County Police officer for 27 years. He has been a member of the Southern Patrol, which covers neighborhoods and developments in lower New Castle County since 2007. Blomquist was cited for his high ethics and even temperament, along with his leadership skills.
