The PAWS for People organization is hosting information sessions and training sessions in Middletown for potential pet therapy teams.

The orientation session will be Thursday, Jan. 4 from 1-4 p.m., at the Appoquinimink Community Library, 651 N. Broad St., Middletown.

Training will be held Thursday, Jan. 18 from 1-4 p.m., also at the Appoquinimink Community Library.

Both sessions are required.

PAWS for People provides therapeutic visits to individuals with disabilities and elderly people who will benefit from interaction with a well-trained loving pet.

Therapy teams consist of one volunteer and one pet who have both completed rigorous training and testing.

Visitation sites range from nursing homes and hospitals to schools and libraries, with a wide variety of programs including eldercare, psychiatric support, developmental disabilities, literacy skills development and many more.
