Work starts March 19

Jamison Corner Road will realigned with the Boyds Corner Road and Cedar Lane Road intersection, starting on Monday, March 19.

The state Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announced that the contractor, Mumford & Miller Concrete, will be performing the work.

Improvements will include 12-foot travel lanes, 8-foot shoulders, 5-foot bike paths, and a 10-foot shared use path.

The contractor's work hours will be from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, pending weather. During construction, message boards will be posted in advance of new traffic patterns or road closures.

This area of New Castle County, just below the C&D Canal, is anticipated to experience added congestion and safety issues. This project is part of a master plan for improvements in this area.

Mumford & Miller Concrete Inc. won the bid of $4.7 million, the lowest of eight bids received. The construction is anticipated to be complete by spring 2019, pending weather.
