Using fingerprint evidence, Smyrna police identified the suspect as Alan M. Josey, 21, of Maryland.
Smyrna police detectives have identified the suspect in the Feb. 26 armed robbery at Walgreens in Smyrna.
Using fingerprint evidence and the FBI database, the suspect was identified as Alan M. Josey, 21, of Maryland, police said on March 20.
The robbery happened Feb. 26 at 4:23 p.m., when the suspect entered the Walgreens on Jimmy Drive and U.S. Route 13. He approached the cash registers where he displayed a black handgun and demanded money from employees.
After obtaining money, the suspect fled on foot, possibly to a waiting vehicle.
The suspect was wearing bandages on his face.
Police believe this suspect is also responsible for the robbery of the Camden McDonald’s about 30 minutes later that day. That crime is under investigation by Delaware State Police.
The suspect, Josey, is incarcerated in Maryland on an unrelated robbery case, police said.
Detectives expect to formally charge and arraign Josey in the coming days on charges of first-degree robbery, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and aggravated menacing.
