Tanger Outlets will host the ninth annual DE-Feet Breast Cancer 5K Run/Walk and 1-Mile Fun Walk beginning at 8:30 a.m. May 20 at Tanger Seaside by the Breakwater Junction Trail, 36470 Seaside Outlet Drive, Rehoboth Beach, benefitting the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition.
New this year, the event will honor the life and memory of Kim Miller, a friend of DBCC who battled stage four breast cancer for 16 months until she died in 2011 at age 28. The Kim Miller Medal will be awarded to the first-place overall run finisher during the event’s award ceremony.
The run/walk is a fun and spirited event for all ages. Participants can choose to take part in a timed 5K run, a 5K walk, or a 1-mile fun walk, all of which are on the Breakwater Junction Trail. The event features an after-party tent with food, music and awards. The event is rain or shine.
Registration is online at defeetbreastcancerwalk.org until May 16. Late registration will be available from 4 to 6 p.m. May 19 at Crooked Hammock Brewery, 36707 Crooked Hammock Way, Lewes, or beginning at 7 a.m. May 20 at Tanger Outlets Seaside.
Proceeds from the 9th Annual DE-Feet Breast Cancer 5K will benefit DBCC’s programs, which increase breast cancer awareness, promote the importance of early detection, provide access to mammograms and cervical screenings, and provide support and resources to women and men in the local community who are newly diagnosed or facing recurrence of breast cancer.
