Fun First State events to dive into

1. Set in a retirement home for actors, “Murder On Cue” is a mystery that keeps things interesting. Whenever there’s snowfall, the retirement home becomes an island, cut off from the outside world. No one can leave, including Gareth, the young solicitor who arrived that afternoon to redo the will of a relative.

After getting snowed in, the residents find the body of an unlikable woman. (Insert dramatic pause.)

Audiences will put their smarts to the test to figure out who the killer is in “Murder On Cue,” at Chapel Street Playhouse, 27 N. Chapel St., Newark at 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday. COST $20. INFO chapelstreetplayers.org or 368-2248.

2. Four female songwriters with four unique voices have created a four-part folk heaven in the Australian quartet All Our Exes Live in Texas.

Featuring Elana Stone, Katie Wighton, Hannah Crofts and Georgia Mooney, the quartet delivers tunes that are crafted with taste, care and skill in the context of a spontaneous, playful and charming show.

The group’s music draws from traditional four-part harmony to create a brand new type of modern folk.

All Our Exes Live in Texas will hit the stage at Milton Theatre, 110 Union St., Milton at 8 p.m., Sunday. COST $15 to $22. INFO miltontheatre.com or 684-3038.
