Some fun First State events to dive into this weekend.

1. One of the most covered bands of all time is Cheap Trick.

The group is responsible for jams like “I Want You to Want Me,” “The Flame” and “Surrender.”

Cheap Trick boasts more than 5,000 performances, 20 million records sold, 29 movie soundtracks and 40 gold and platinum recording awards.

Since the ‘70s, the band has been blending elements of pop, punk and metal in a way that’s instantly catchy and recognizable. If you’re familiar with Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report,” you’ll note that Cheap Trick wrote and performed the theme song.

2. Tar Heel native Chase Rice is of the hottest names in country.

The country star hit the ground running with his debut album, “Ignite the Night,” which landed No. 1. on Billboard’s Top Country Albums and No. 3 on the all-genre chart. It produced a pair of top five hits, the platinum-certified “Ready Set Roll” and “Gonna Wanna Tonight.”

After supporting Kenny Chesney’s The Big Revival Tour in 2015, Rice consistently sold out venues with at least 2,500 seats on his JD and Jesus Tour and Everybody We Know Does Tour.

Rice is back on the road and will gig in lower slower, joined with Abby Anderson, at the Bottle & Cork, 1807 Highway One, Dewey Beach at 8:30 p.m., Friday. COST $40. INFO bottleandcorkdewey.com or 227-3888.

3. Harrington will let the cat out of the bag with party band Best Kept Secret.

Their repertoire ranges from classic funk and soul, to Motown, disco, pop and country music.

Best Kept Secret’s songbook includes tunes by Stevie Wonder, Patti LaBelle, and the Pointer Sisters, and modern artists like Maroon 5, CeeLo and Adele.

4. Rush tribute band kRUSH is heading to Wilmington for your enjoyment.

The members replicate their namesakes to deliver pure authenticity in their shows.
