Some fun First State events to dive into this weekend.

1. Paranormal Cirque stitches together sexiness, theater, circus and cabaret with a new European style flare, topped off with a little spookiness.

As a heads up, the show is a bit mature, so there’s an age restriction for certain show times.

The show, presented by Cirque Italia, has united some of the best artists from all over the world.

A few of the circus arts you can expect to see in this new production include mystifying magic and a woman hanging high in the air from her hair.

You can catch multiple performances of Paranormal Cirque at Christiana Mall, 132 Christiana Mall, Newark Friday at 6:30 p.m. (for kids age 6 or older) and 9:30 p.m.

On Saturday shows are at 2:30 p.m. (for kids age 6 or older), 6:30 and 9:30 p.m.

Sunday’s shows are at 1:30 p.m. (for kids age 6 or older), 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. COST $10 to $50. INFO paranormalcirque.com or (941) 704-8572.

2. Seeing the art of slapstick motivated Joey Callahan to want to work in comedy.

The first time he saw it was when comedian Dick Van Dyke tripped. To date, Callahan has built a career where he’s worked as a comedy writer for the likes of Jay Leno, Jimmie “J.J.” Walker and others.

The comedic Callahan has been seen on Comedy Central, ESPN’s “Lighter Side of Sports” and on Fox. He’s emerged as a national headliner and opener for veteran comedians like Weird Al Yankovic.

Callahan, with opener Keith Purnell, will crack up the audience at the Milton Theatre, 110 Union St., Milton at 8 p.m., Friday. COST $5 to $10. INFO miltontheatre.com or 684-3038.

3. If you’re looking for craft brews and good music, Kid Davis & the Bullets will hit the spot for you in Milford.

Kid Davis & the Bullets is led by Michael Davis (vocals/guitar). The band has been sharing its own brand of roots/rockabilly music for more than three decades in the Wilmington region and beyond.

Davis is joined by co-founder Bobby Bloomingdale (bass) and Walter Epting (drums).

The Bullets will hit the stage at Mispillion River Brewing, 255 Mullet Run, Milford from 8 to 10 p.m., Saturday. COST Free. INFO mispillionriverbrewing.com or 491-6623.
