The Cavalier Marching Band scored a season-high 94.3 out of 100 and qualified for the Atlantic Coast Championships in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

After earning a sweet score in the Tournament of Bands Region 3 Championships, the Middletown High School Cavalier Marching Band is going to the "sweetest place on Earth."

Middletown won the group 3 open division at the regional competition for bands from Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Maryland Saturday at Appoquinimink High School.

The Cavaliers also qualified for the Atlantic Coast Championships Nov. 4 in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

At the Region 9 competition, Middletown earned a season-high score of 94.3 out of 100, and swept all of the awards in the division including best music, best visual, best percussion, best colorguard, and best drum major -- senior Alexa Freeman.

Middletown Band Director Brian Endlein said the Cavaliers are currently ranked fourth overall against bands their size from the surrounding nine states in the Atlantic Coast competition area.

The Cavaliers will be competing against 19 other bands in the Atlantic Coast Championships.
