Senior Drum Major Mary Loughlin earned the award for Best Drum Major in group 4 Open Class and has been invited to serve as a drum major in the Channel 6-ABC Thanksgiving Day Parade in Philadelphia.

The Appoquinimink High School Marching Band earned its highest score ever and placed in the top three for the first time at the Tournament of Bands Atlantic Coast Championships Oct. 28 in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

The Jaguars earned the bronze medal in group 4 Open Class with a score of a 95.35.

The marching band also came in second place in overall music which was their highest placement in the category at the Atlantic Coast Championships.

Appoquinimink High School Instrumental Director Ryan Moseley congratulated the band members on their “most successful season in the short history of AHS.”

Senior guard member Lexi Stoms won one of the Tournament of Bands $1,000 scholarships by writing an award-winning essay.

Finally, special recognition goes to Senior Drum Major Mary Loughlin who earned the award for Best Drum Major. As a result, she has been selected as the drum major to represent the Tournament of Bands All-Star Marching Band in the Channel 6-ABC Thanksgiving Day Parade in Philadelphia.

“This is a tremendous honor for Mary. Please congratulate her and watch for her on TV on Thanksgiving Day,” said Moseley.
