At the Atlantic Coast Championships, the Middletown High School Cavalier Marching Band attained its highest finish and highest score since the band first started attending the event in the 1980s.
The Middletown High School Cavalier Marching Band achieved two milestones at the Tournament of Bands Atlantic Coast Championships in Open Class 3 in Hershey, Pennsylvania Nov. 4.
Director Brian Endlein said the band finished third out of 20 bands and scored a 96.7 out of 100.
The ranking and score are the highest in the school’s history since the band first started attending the Atlantic Coast Championships in the 1980s, he said.
The band was seeded fourth entering the competition and finished just two-tenths of a point from the second-place band.
The Cavaliers also won the award for best color guard in Open Class 3.
To cap off the night, senior Ethan Nylander received a $3,000 scholarship from the Tournament of Bands National Judges Association.
