Comped recently announced its spring community computer classes. The Comped studio is located at 4062 Dupont Parkway – U.S. 13, in Townsend. The instructor is Dr. Hans Borchardt.

• The Computer Mouse and Keyboard for beginners will be Friday, Feb. 26, and Saturday, Feb. 27, from 10 a.m. to noon. Learn how to write simple notes, fill out forms and play Solitaire. This class is two hours. The cost is $10.
• The Internet course will be held Thursday, March 4, Friday, March 5, Thursday, March 11 and Friday, March 12, from 9:45 a.m. to noon and from 6:45 to 9 p.m. Learn how to surf the Internet, do searches, send email and much more. This course is nine hours and the cost is $40.
• Managing Computer Information will be held Thursday, March 25, Friday, March 26. Monday, March 29, Tuesday, March 30 and Thursday, April 1, from 9:45 a.m. to noon and from 6:45 to 9 p.m. Learn to create files, organize with folders, save to drives and use Windows Explorer. This course is 11 or more hours and the cost is $50.
• Applied File Management will be Saturday, April 10, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This course offers all hands-on exercises, reinforcing the concepts learned in Unit 3. Create, save, edit, download, find and more. This course is three hours and the cost is $20.
• Word Processing will be held Thursday, April 15, Friday, April 16, Monday, April 19, Tuesday, April 20 and Thursday, April 22, from 9:45 a.m. to noon and from 6:45 to 9 p.m. This course covers Notepad, WordPad, MS Works and MS Word. It is aimed for the home user and covers standard letter writing and the construction of announcements and newsletters. This course is 11 or more hours and the cost is $40.
• Computer Graphics will be held Thursday, April 20, Friday, April 20, Thursday, May 6 and Friday May 7, 9:45 a.m. to noon and from 6:45 to 9 p.m. This course deals with the production – by scanning and digital photography, editing, printing, storage, organization and display of digital pictures. This course is 10 hours and the cost is $50.
• Web Construction will be held Thursday, May 20, Friday, May 21, Monday, May 24, Tuesday, May 25 and Thursday, May 27, from 10 a.m. to noon and from 7 to 9 p.m. This course teaches users how to create a web site for the Internet using the hypertext markup language (HTML). It is suitable for teens. The course runs 10 hours and the cost is $50.
• Web Design will be offered for individual instruction upon request. Students will learn to produce web pages, similar to Comped, using understandable HTML coding and various advanced techniques. The cost is $30.
There is a minimum of five students per class. The cost of course materials is included in the course fee. Pre-registration and payment is required no less than seven days prior to the class start date. In the event the five-student minimum is not met, the class is subject to cancellation.
