Former police chief Dan Tjaden has returned to Delaware City to replace Paul Morrill as city manager. Tjaden took the job after working 16 months as Joe Biden's law enforcement liaison.

The Town of Townsend and the Delaware State Police have recently held a meeting, with more to come, to help Townsend residents build community watches. These watches will be a way for residents to help prevent vandalism, ATVs and other issues the town faces.
Delaware firefighters from across the state aligned with the Delaware Department of Agriculture Fire Service travelled to northern California to do their part in fighting the Iron Comlex fires in Junction City, Calif., near Shasta-Trinity National Forest. The fires began on June 21 and will most likely not be put out until Aug. 15. This is the first time this group of firefighters has been called out to California.
Construction has begun on the Middletown Police Department's new building. Ground for the building was broken in March, but poor soil on-site meant construction was delayed while the building was re-designed.
For the summer months, the Middletown Police Department will employ six Delaware Technical & Community College students to act as temporary officers. The temporary officers will be on the lookout for parking violations and vandalism and will assist MPD officers if need be.
