Middletown girl bitten by dog

    An 11-year-old Middletown girl was left with two puncture wounds after she was bitten by a dog Aug. 18, in Middletown Village, Middletown Police said.
    MPD said Officer Ronald Davis responded to Marian Drive at 9:15 a.m. in reference to a report of a vicious animal incident. Officers learned that the female, her 8-year-old sister and 25-year-old cousin were walking from their residence to a fast food restaurant located on Route 301, when the victim was approached by and bitten by large black and brown dog, described as part Mastiff. The victim was transported to the Christiana Hospital Emergency Room, where she was treated and released for the wounds to her left arm.
    MPD officers, along with a Delaware Animal Care and Control officer, were able to locate and identify the owner of the animal, a 17-year-old male who resides in the 800 block of Marian Drive. The owner explained he was walking the animal when it slipped its collar and ran toward the victim. The dog jumped up on the victim, biting her on the left arm.
    MPD said The animal has been temporarily quarantined pending verification of appropriate inoculations. The incident is being overseen by Animal Care and Control.
    Charges in this case are pending.
