New Castle County Police are investigating a report of an attempted abduction of a 3-year-old Middletown boy while he was playing in the rear yard of his home Friday.

At 6:30 p.m., police responded to a residence in the 600 block of Taylor Court in the Fox Hunter Crossing neighborhood for a report of a suspicious person and attempted abduction. Upon arrival, the boy’s mother said her son was lured to the fence in the rear of the yard by an unknown female while he was playing in a sand box.

The mother watched her son get up from the sand box and walk to the fence, and then saw an unknown woman leaning over the fence. She yelled for her son to get away from the fence and come into the house.

The female suspect was described as white, between 40 and 50 years old, 5-feet-7 tall, with brown shoulder length wavy hair, and last seen wearing a green raincoat style jacket with blue jeans. A white male suspect was described as between 50 and 60 years old, with short white hair. Both suspects were last seen headed north on Choptank Road in an older model red or maroon four-door vehicle.

Anyone with information regarding the investigation is asked to contact police at 302-395-2782 and ask for detective Jake Andrews or go to the www.nccpd.com Web site. Citizens may also text a tip to 847411 or call Crime Stoppers at 800-847-3333.
