A 27-year-old Middletown man was charged with second degree robbery, resisting arrest, offensive touching of a law enforcement official and possession of marijuana after a March 9 incident in the 100 block of Lockwood Street.
Middletown Police said Aaron Benson, of the first block of New Street, forcibly grabbed a pocketbook belonging to a female acquaintance while riding in a vehicle at 8 p.m. and refused to return it.
The alleged female victim contacted 911, and police made contact with Benson upon arrival. Police said Benson refused to comply with officer’s commands, refused to return the purse and resisted arrest.
Police said an officer used his Taser when attempting to arrest Benson, and eventually gained control. Police said when officers searched Benson, five grams of marijuana were found on him.
Benson was arraigned and committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institute in default of $2,100 secured bond.
