The Middletown Youth for Christ Center is looking for mentors and volunteers to provide at least one hour a week of their time at the center or a local school campus during the 2010-2011 school year.
Because youth need positive support from adult role models. They also need guidance and direction in planning and achieving goals.
A mentor is someone who provides a young person with trust, friendship and positive support. Mentors assist youth in reaching their full potential. Youth benefit by having a healthy, consistent relationship with an encouraging, positive role model. Mentoring builds positive self-esteem, establishes better grades and much more.
Mentors may spend time talking and listening or helping with homework. Structured programs are offered. There is also time for games, activities and snacks.
