Middletown Chamber of Commerce celebrates 40th anniversary

The Middletown Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 40th anniversary with a gala dinner Jan. 20 at the Chesapeake Inn in Chesapeake City, Md.

The evening began with MACC President Bill O’Neal installing the 2012 MACC Board of Directors, which was followed by 40th anniversary tributes from Gov. Jack Markell, State Rep. Quinn Johnson and Councilman Bill Powers. MACC founder Will Kirkwood received a founder’s tribute from the MACC and the New Castle County Council.

The anniversary also included an award show. Dianne Burke was awarded the MACC President’s Award for outstanding board member of the year. The Business of the Year award was given to Excel Business Systems. Caryn Rosica was named Ambassador of the Year, and W.D. Hatton Jewelers received the Special Recognition Award. Dawn McDowell received the new MACC Citizen of the Year award, named after President O’Neal.
