Duke Realty has informed the town of Middletown that they plan to start construction on the highly anticipated Amazon distribution center Monday.

Middletown mayor and council approved the finalized plans presented by Duke Realty for the 1-million-square-foot facility in January.

The warehouse will sit on 76 acres of land west of U.S. 301 and will accommodate more than 2,500 parking spaces.

If all goes according to plan, Amazon.com is anticipated to occupy the center by September.

The distribution center will create 849 new, full-time jobs once it is completed with more than 2,000 seasonal jobs for up to three months twice a year.
