The Department of Transportation announces that Boyds Corner Intersection Improvements contract has been awarded to A-Del Construction Company, Inc. The contractor submitted a bid of $4,343,452.91, the lowest of five bids received.
The project consists of the reconstruction and improvements to approximately one mile of U.S. 13 in New Castle County, from Greylag Road to the Augustine Creek Bridge. Approximately ½ mile of Boyds Corner Road will also be reconstructed. Improvements will include an additional lane in each direction on U.S. 13 and additional turning lanes at the Boyds Corner and Greylag intersections. Signing, striping and traffic signal upgrades are also to be included. The project is necessary to increase safety and efficiency at this busy intersection.
Construction is scheduled to begin in August. Construction is scheduled for completion within 426 calendar days, pending weather.
