Top local businesses from the Middletown-Odessa-Townsend area will soon take over Brick Mill Elementary School to show community members why they need not go far for the best products and services.
The Middletown Area Chamber of Commerce will bring together more than 64 businesses for the second Business 2 Business and Community Expo Saturday, March 20, from 2 to 6 p.m.
Chamber members Andrea Brown-Clarke of What’s Your Inspiration?, Inc. Custom Events and Sital Soni of ELM Strategies, LLC, are the event’s main organizers for the second time.
Brown-Clarke said the purpose of the expo is to make community members aware of the resources they have available to them.
“We want to give the exposure and the opportunity to the businesses, and we want the citizens that surround this area to realize what is here and that they don’t necessarily have to travel further north or south to get it,” she said.
Brown-Clarke said visitors to the expo can expect to network with a wide variety of organizations, including banks, retail businesses, schools, health care specialists, design companies and home repair contractors.
“[Community members] are going to learn about all the support and resources that are right in their own backyard,” she said.
Brown-Clarke said more than 300 people came out for the event last year, and many of the vendors were excited to come back this year.
“We try to provide the whole experience, not just for the guest, but for the vendors and volunteers, too,” she said. “We anticipate that we will meet and exceed that goal of attendance this year.”
Soni said there will be a variety of activities for guests to participate in throughout the day. Three seminars will take place, including Accounting for Success by Cover & Rossiter, Securing Your Future by Liberty Mutual, and Proper Seal and Coating Techniques by T.D. Sealer.
She said while adults can visit the health care zone, where chiropractors, podiatrists and staff from Christiana Care will be on hand to provide health screenings, children can keep busy at the Kids Fun Zone, where they’ll be entertained by moon bounces, face painting, scratch art and possibly a clown.
“There’s really something to do for everyone,” Soni said.
Many guests won’t go home empty-handed, either. This free event includes door prizes and a 50/50 raffle. Prizes include gift certificates, baskets and discounts from several of the vendors on site.
Brown-Clarke said as the M.O.T. area continues to grow, she hopes the community and the businesses continue to work hand in hand.
“We want the organizations to see the value of doing business in Middletown,” she said. “We’re an up-and-coming neighborhood here.”
